So who won Andy Griggs’ big archery event at the CMA Music Festival last Thursday?
It was a good competition, but it came down to a shoot-off between Andy and last year’s winner, songwriter Neil Thrasher.
Ultimately, Andy prevailed by a whisker-thin margin of just two points!

Andy was selfish with this one. He said,
"'If Heaven’ is definitely the song that I recorded for me. Usually, every song I record - I’m hoping that
people out there get it get it and that it makes a big difference into the country music crowd.
I didn’t do that with ‘If Heaven.’”
Andy said he recorded this song,
“because it penetrated my heart and it describes where I’ve been.
This was the first time that I’ve ever stepped up to the microphone in the studio and said, 'This one goes out to me.'”

Andy Griggs thinks he knows why his song "If Heaven" stirs peoples' souls.
“It touches the people who still have a whole lot of living left…and it also touches the people who’ve lost somebody.”
The song has been a real crowd-pleaser too. Andy said,
“That’s when you know and you remember why you came to Nashville, Tennessee.
You remember your first dream, and that’s to touch somebody.”
